Ruth’s Baked beans (Crockpot version)

1) Soak beans overnight in water. Rinse in the morning.    


2) Saute 1 small yellow onion, diced finely.

3) Place onion in bottom of crockpot. Layer beans on top.

4) Add rest of ingredients, mix, and cook 6-8 hours on high, or 10 on low.

3 cups broth

14 oz white beans

1⁄2 cup, plus 2 tbsp of BBQ sauce

1⁄2 cup ketchup

3 tbsp maple syrup

2 tbsp honey

2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

2 tbsp tomato paste

2 tsp smoked paprika

2 tsp dry mustard

1 tsp cumin

1⁄2 - 1 tsp salt

1⁄2 tsp pepper

2 tsp olive oil for sauteeing onions 1 onion, diced finely
